AVALON EMERSON REMIXES OCTO OCTA’S ‘ADRIFT’

Avalon Emerson has remixed New York based, Trans producer Octo Octa’s ‘Adrift’. The package is set for release on Honey Soundsystem at the end of the month. The original is futuristic dub techno and could well be Octo Octa’s most brazen production to date. Amazingly, she has never had any of her material officially remixed… that is until now.

Close friend Avalon Emerson was an obvious first port of call when the idea of a remix was mooted. Emerson’s version introduces some schizophrenic tribal drums whilst retaining the of the original. File this one under: Space Age. Genius of Time’s Dorisberg also steps up on remix duties.

Emerson is a Berlin-based, American DJ/producer. From the bleak backdrop of the Arizona desert, to the urban metropolis of Berlin by way of liberal San Francisco, avalon’s life in music is one of contrast.

She engineered the music of her friends’ bands from their suburban garages, whilst simultaneous honing her craft as a DJ in the city’s notorious gay warehouse scene. It seems that contrast is a reoccurring theme throughout Avalon’s journey – for example, away from music, she’s a qualified software developer, but also takes a keen interest in the world of fashion.

Nowadays she is more likely to be found spinning in her adopted city’s infamous Panorama Bar.

But on Saturday 7th October she returns to the south-coast for the third instalment of her quarterly residency at Patterns, Brighton. She’ll be supported by Hessle Audio’s Pangaea.
