On Thursday 3rd May, Annie Mac presents Lost and Found returns to St Paul's Bay in Malta for their fourth edition, inviting an array of tasteful electronic artists. This year the lineup features worldwide talent such as Jamie XX, Four Tet, Bicep, The Martinez Brothers, Mall Grab, Artwork, Midland and Peggy Gou, to name a few.
Born in South Korea but now living in Berlin, Peggy Gou has become one of the most talked about artists in the underground scene. She’s gone from strength to strength ever since she wowed the crowds on the Boiler Room stage at Dekmantel Festival in 2017, and is famed for her pulsing house, electro and broken beat sets.
Peggy is relatively new to the scene and first began releasing music in 2016, when she dropped her debut EP ‘Art of War’ on Rekids. The same year she released another three EPs on British labels - Phonica White (Phonica Records label) and Ninja Tune’s singles label Technicolour. Her busy tour schedule in 2017 at festivals and club included gigs such as Electric Pickle in Miami, Circus in Tokyo, The Star Festival in Japan, Off Sonar in Barcelona, Glastonbury festival, Berghain and BPM festival, meant that he didn't release any new material last year.
Consequently, Peggy's fans will be delighted to know that the wait is finally over, and a new record is finally on the horizon. Her first release of 2018 - and what will be her second Ninja Tune EP - is titled ‘Once’, and will drop on March 2nd. The EP contains three tracks which she says correlate to a specific theme – open air, warm-up and “proper party”.
Her inspiration for the EP comes from her influences over the last few years “from electro, African music, early '90s house music and also techno, especially Maurice Fulton and DMX Krew” – we can definitely see the resemblance from one of the tracks, ‘It Makes You Forget’. For the first time she also features her own vocals on in her tracks.
