Toolroom records have produced, directed and created a brand new short film called ‘Odyssey’ a 17-minute short film in which label boss Mark Knight speaks to some of the world’s most esteemed selectors about their experience surrounding the art of DJing.
With the film in production over the past year, Mark Knight said: "The project has been a labour of love and features some of the best DJs I know working today. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”
Veterans Danny Tenaglia, Andy C and Roger Sanchez all feature throughout the documentary, exploring and comparing the current scene to ‘how things used to be’. The video explores the art of the extended DJ set and the danger of it’s extinction, with festival and club line-ups continuing to favour a long list of names on the bill. As Roger Sanchez explains - “DJing is about creating a journey; it’s about telling a story. And to do that you need time”; the film notes how DJ sets have increasingly been cut short.
Over the past fifteen years, Mark Knight has enjoyed an illustrious career, from DJing in local London and Kent based clubs, to co producing records with the likes of Underworld, Calvin Harris, The Black Eyed Peas and Faithless, not to mention running one of the most successful house music record labels in the country – Toolroom.
Mark Knight is about to embark on his ‘All Knight Long’ tour, which features him playing six-plus hour-long sets. The London date sees the Toolroom boss headline at Basing House.
