Quickly rising from blogger favourite to mainstram breakthrough, the UK’s electronic music scene in 2012 had reached fever pitch for Julio Bashmore. Growing up in the musical hotbed of Bristol, he captured burgeoning tastes for more bassy interpretations of house music and rolled them up into a bunch of virtually inescapable EP’s, catapulting him to stardom. But, as with so many artists pushed into big leagues, there’s more to him than these most hyped sounds.
He’s released on labels including Night Slugs, Ten Thousand Yen, PTN, fabric and Soul Motive. His early bass orientated work initially gained him notoriety with the media, house fans and dub-step fans, blurring discernible lines. His 2012 hit track Au Seve gained huge support, not just from some of the world’s biggest DJs but also from the media, esteemed labels and fans across the globe as well as earning him the chance to bring his skills in to the studio to work alongside the likes of Jessie Ware and Disclosure.
Since then Bashmore has gone on to release a full-length 12-track album, which delves deep and explores Julio’s, house, techno and disco influences, compared to the bassy beats, which he originally made his name from.
