Seasoned promoters Percolate are celebrating an applause worthy seven years of throwing parties in 2019. To commemorate their achievements and events that think outside-of-the-box, we’re reflecting of seven great parties from their impressive archive. It was hard to whittle it down to a mere seven - and we could have included many more.
1. Andromeda54: 29th October 2016
Generally speaking, you know what you’re going to get at a Halloween party. Usually. Not the case with Percolate however. Removing the fright, gore and horror and replacing it with a sprinkling of intergalactic stardust was a pretty cool touch. Throw is some cosmic disco courtesy of Todd Terje and Maribou State and this was always going to be a classic. Much like all of Percolate’s parties, a lot of attention was given to the production. Attendees were taken to the stars as Great Suffolk Street was transformed into a space odyssey.
2. Percolate Open Air: 29th July 2017
Featuring one-of-a-kind outdoor spaces, canal-side Three Mills Island is a gem of a venue. Such a locale, calls for a worthy line-up - and Percolate were all too happy to oblige. The outfit booked a stellar cast that included DJ Koze, Paranoid London, Scuba, Sonja Moonear and Objekt amongst others. The results were as you would expect when artists of that magnitude come together at such an awe-inspiring space. Magic.
3. Live at the Roundhouse w/ Todd Terje, Crazy P & Horse Meat Disco: 30 Sep 2017
There are some venues whose reputation dwarfs that the headliners - and that’s certainly the case of The Roundhouse. Steeped in history, the venue doesn’t invite just anybody - a surefire sign of the trust placed in Percolate to pull-off throwing a party here. Such prestige surely adds pressure, but Percolate pulled it off with a disco-edged affair centered around old friend Todd Terje’s live show. Heavyweight support came from Crazy P and Horse Meat Disco - one for the record books.
4. Percolate NYE w/ Kerri Chandler: 31st Dec 2017
New Year’s Eve can sometimes be discarded as subscribing to forced-fun, but that’s not the case when Percolate take care of business. Legendary house DJ Kerri Chandler was the man charged with headlining the event - an act that is truly big enough in stature to see in 2018. There were fireworks that night - and Percolate slayed the myth that NYE is a bit rubbish.
5. Honey Dijon Blackout: 8th March 2019
Honey Dijon might be one of the biggest names in the industry, but we appreciate the efforts of this party to remove the focus from the DJ booth and place it back where it belongs: the dancefloor. With the DJs hidden, the music and dancing were placed at the heart of this brave party idea. While the hostess played an extended 5-hour set, she was joined by Carista who provided the perfect warm-up.
6. Queen's Yard Summer Party 2019: 4/5th May 2019
We especially loved the concept of this ambitious, multi-venue weekend experience - and moreso the emphasis on supporting grass roots and homegrown talent. There were no five figure, international megastars spread across the 17 locations - but those on offer were diverse and represented a forward-thinking booking policy that guaranteed incredible music from the outset. It was also great to see so much female talent recognised, with the likes of Amy Becker, Jane Fitz, Hannah Holland, IMOGEN and Willow receiving top billing.
7. Objekt x Ezra Miller Live A/V: 12th Sep 2019
Yet another ambitious project undertaken by the Percolate team - they do like to give themselves a challenge. This time man of the moment Objekt performed his first live set. The special one-off at Islington Assembly Hall saw Objekt collaborate with digital artist Ezra Miller, who created the visuals in the A/V performance and dumped attendees in the middle of an immersive clubbing experience soundtracked exclusively by Objekt’s own productions. Pretty cool.
