If there is such thing as a house music hall of fame, producer and DJ Murat Tepeli has certainly cemented his place in it.
Close friend and collaborator of Prosumer, Tepeli’s vibe is steeped in the classic house of Chicago and Detroit, his productions capture a retro spirit - think Larry Heard, Mr Fingers, Robert Owens – although in a nuanced, precise, sultry manner, pairing melancholy with the necessity to dance.
We’ve had our eyes on him for eight years or more… so here are our top picks as a refresher or an introduction.

Coming out at the end of 2014 on his own ‘Potion’ label, this is a hefty slice of acid. Totally infectious and bringing the drama, we had it on repeat for weeks.
The Original mix of this is equally good, but Prosumer’s rework gets the prize because of our NYC Downlow memories. Flaunt it, work it.
The highlight of their 2008 album ‘Serenity’ and recorded live at Panorama Bar, for us this track is close to perfection. Stripped back and groovy with percussion to die for.
One of the duo’s most up-beat tracks, the groove is relentless in this smooth Ostgut Toclassic.
Excellent rework of an excellent track – plenty of space and emotion.
Murat Tepeli plays at Corsica Studios for Tesselate this weekend, tickets available here:
