Ben Klock is returning to our fair capital and not before time. The techno thoroughbred will be in town to play a very special date at a yet undisclosed venue on Saturday 28th March. The only info we have at present is that the soundsystem bangs and it will be Ben’s first time playing at this particular venue. Answers on a postcard.
Of course, we should trust the tastes of the Berlin export. Here is an artist who is very selective about the kind of venues he plays - and the audio experience is always at the very top of his criteria. Just look at the places he considers amongst his favourite to play: Berghain - where he has held residency for years, DC10 - Ibiza’s underground mecca, Gashouder in Amsterdam and Brazil’s Warung Beach Club. That gives us a pretty good idea of what kind of venue we’re looking it. It could well be as iconic as those mentioned.
Ben Klock is of course the mastermind behind his Klockworks’ label’s Photon event series. Photon graced London in 2018 and 2019, taking over the cavernous Printworks Print Halls over Easter weekend. The multi-sensory overload placed huge emphasis on production. While the high-octane party won plenty of fans amongst London’s underground contingent, Ben’s next jaunt promises to dispense with the theatrics and place music at the centre of the clubbing experience.
Whether it’s pounding Berlin techno or deeper, more nuanced electronic music, Klock will make sure he gets the very best out of the technical spec put in front of him. Clubbers are in for a treat, that much is for sure. The big reveal can’t be too far around the corner.
