It’s also the last time for us to take a paid Monday off work without eating into our annual leave before Chr****** (no, we didn’t just publish that word). One Day At The Disco festival - Three Mills Island, London
On Saturday 24th August, One Day At the Disco festival lands on Three Mills Island. August Bank Holiday weekend is notorious unreliable on the weather-front. But it won’t matter, as with music from Todd Terje, Derrick Carter and Inner City live, it’s be shining in our souls regardless.
Maiden Voyage - Three Mills Island, London
The following day, it’s Jazz Café turn to transform Three Mills Island into their utopic paradise. Maiden Voyage Festival will feature Awesome Tapes From Africa, Bradley Three Zero, Gilles Peterson, Roy Ayers and more. Mint Festival Terrace Party :: Hot Since 82 - Mint Warehouse, Leeds
Further north, Leeds’ Mint Festival are preparing a launch event with none-other than the city’s favourite son, Hot Since 82. After the Knee Deep In Sound man smashed his warehouse party in Peckham last month, we know he’s in scintillating form. Fresh off the release of his 8-track album, HS82 takeover Mint Warehouse in his hometown. You know that’s gonna go off! It goes down on Sunday 25th August.
picnic with Melchior Productions Ltd, Vera, Spokenn - FOLD, London
London’s new(-ish) extended late license warehouse FOLD has wasted little time in establishing its worth amongst the city’s clubbing landscape. It goes go late on Saturday 24th August, with a party that stretches to 12+ hours. Opening at 11pm and running until midday on Sunday, FOLD invites Picnic to host the night on the Canning Town industrial complex. Women led collective Melliflow label boss Vera and Spokenn are the big guests, with a headline live show from Melchior Productions. Other acts on the bill include Andy Luff and Christian AB for a night of dubby, spaced out techno and IDM.
Berlin Berlin: The Birthday - Egg, London
Over at Egg Ldn, shock-jock residents Berlin Berlin celebrate their birthday the only way they know how: in an underground S&M fetish club with provocative dancers and stage shows, and a soundtrack right from the city they borrow the name from. Similarly, this is a strictly no phones affair, so muscle in and immerse yourself in the darker side of clubbing in the capital. Things get risque on Saturday 24th August.
Dusky Take A Trip 5 (Day and Night) - Mick's Garage, London
Elsewhere, Dusky Take A Trip at Mick’s Garage - the fifth instalment of the duo’s extended format. Proceedings begin early at 13:00, ending at 03:00 with the boys doing an 8-hour stint on the decks and showcasing the full spectrum of their sound. Body Hammer and GiGi FM are also in tow.
Banoffee Pies + Willers Brothers - Prince Of Wales, London
In Brixton, on the Prince of Wales lush rooftop, the Willers Brothers and Banoffee Pie will be leading an all-dayer featuring everything from disco to house to techno. With three floors of music, including new production in the main room and VIP tables available, here’s an option for ravers of a discerning nature.
Faster pres Summer DnB Roof Party - Dalston Roof Terrace, London
D&B fans are not short on options either. At Steelyard London, Virus lands with Ed Rush, Optical and Circuits going B2B2B in a world exclusive. Other acts dropping by Allhallows Lane, include Matrix, Prolix, Audio and Touch. In Dalston, there’s rooftop vibes at Print House calling for all D&B heads to assemble and rave to the bitter end.
