German techno lynchpin Chris Liebing has announced details of forthcoming album, Burn Slow – heralding a new chapter in his career.
Quite unbelievably, this will be the veteran producer’s first forage with the album format. Fans of the DJ are to be advised not to expect his usual breakneck 130+ BPM style. Liebing has promised to unravel a different side of his persona with a focus on “minimalist electronica”.
To be released via Mute, it follows his April release on the label Novembergrey.
Perhaps most excitingly, Liebing has called on the vocal talents of synth-pop legend Gary Numan to sing on one of the tracks, Chrome (The Friend Pt. 1).
Other featured artists include Aleen, Cold Cave, Miles Cooper Seaton and Polly Scattergood.
Arguably, Liebing was hinting towards this project, with his Slow Burn-titled remix of Depeche Mode from 2017 and more recently his rework of Goldfrapp.
Burn Slow will be released on Mute on 8th September.
Chris Liebing returns to Sonus Festival between 19th-23rd August alongside a stellar ensemble of peers, including Len Faki, Rødhåd and Recondite. 2nd release tickets are on sale now.
