When it comes to ticking-off accomplishments, few promotions can count their blessings as much as London party-starters 33. The collective have been a whirlwind 12-months, where they’ve taken their brand from Kent underground favourite The Source to jaunts in Ibiza. Perhaps most championed of all, the start of 2019 saw them grace the hallowed turf of fabric.
33 return to their London stomping ground this Easter Saturday, 20th April. This time, they’re stripping things back and taking it more intimate
Tucked neatly out of sight, and with its limited lighting Corsica Studios in Elephant & Castle is an audiophiles’ wet-dream - with a focus on sound. Always drawing a clued-up, knowledgeable crowd, music is placed at the centre of experience over flashing effects and peripheral distractions.
Accordingly, 33 have booked a line-up reflective of this. Naturally, resident spinners Late Replies, NinetyOne and Karter will all be present. There’s also invites for exciting emerging talent, such as Jo Poole. Meanwhile, headline duties on this occasion have been passed to a former teenage prodigy, whose future is looking bright: AJ Christou.
In London quarters, AJ probably isn’t quite so widely recognised as he is in the North West. But the undisputable talent has experience beyond his years. He had to have something special for Manchester institution Sankeys to take a plump on him with a residency, despite being an eager 17-year old at the time. Despite no longer claiming a physical presence in MCR, AJ is another product of the iconic venue’s storied legacy.
Piqued your curiosity? Then get to know AJ and his Celesta Records imprint a little better by checking-out his recent submission to the In Focus mix series. Packed with tunes from the label, plus Stacey Pullen, Neverdogs and Yaya.
