Following on from Marcel Dettmann and Jackmaster’s editions to the DJ-Kicks series, earlier on in the year, Daniel Avery will mix the next compilation in the !K7 Records collection.
Avery’s mix blurs the lines between ominous, intelligent techno and dark, atmospheric soundscapes, including an array of cuts from In Aeternam, Vlae, Rrose, Planetary Assault Systems, Shlomo and Avery himself.
The fifteen-track accumulation includes three new Avery productions, and is described in the press release as “concerned with the idea of taking a collective breath and allowing records their own space.” You can view the feature track – ‘Space Echo’ by Avery himself, below.
Speaking about the atmosphere he creates in his sets, Avery says “Electronic music is unique in that, whilst it has an immediate effect on the body, the culture surrounding it has the ability to run deep into your life,” He continues, "Whenever I’m in a club, I want to give myself up to music. This is the very thing that excites me the most. Witnessing a DJ create an atmosphere in a room from the ground up takes patience and effort from everyone present but when the pivotal moments hit, your watch stops ticking.”
Daniel Avery’s DJ Kicks is due out on 11th November, just one week after he heads to Brighton to perform at coast-side club Patterns.
