Back in May, Seth Troxler announced that he would be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in order to raise money and awareness for brain cancer research, and on Monday, took to Facebook to publicise that he and his team had completed the mountainous challenge. The ascent up the mountain began last Thursday as part of Australian neurosurgeon Charlie Teo’s Million$Mission initiative, which saw Troxler hit the trails with nine other philanthropists, including Olympic medallist Lachlan Jones.
Each participant’s goal was to raise $100,000 so that their collective contributions would reach a target of $1,000,000, with proceeds going to The Australian Cure Brain Cancer Foundation. So far, the initiative has exceeded its goal, having brought in a whopping $1,210,627. Troxler has done a fine job adding to the effort, raising a weighty $101,583 (and counting) for the cause.
The international DJ received support and donations from DJ friends and associates such as Kolsch, Nic Fanciulli, Tensnake, Denney, Mathew Jonson, Loco Dice, Dubfire, Pan-Pot, Guy Gerber, Kerri Chandler, The Martinez Brothers, Jackmaster and Eats Everything all chipping in and donating towards the cause. Institutional heavyweights such as DC10 and The BPM Festival also showed their support towards Seth by donating.
The Brain Cancer Foundation solely focuses on funding innovative research and clinical trials on brain cancer, raising awareness and advocacy with the mission of raising patients’ five-year survival rate from todays 20% to 50% by 2023.
