Since 2009, techno pioneer and all round institution Sven Vath has been bringing his Cocoon brand to Leeds for a party of legendary proportions. After building a mutual respect through playing at their events, the owners and curators of Mint Club took the fun up a notch and, with Vath’s input, created what has now become one of the finest open air events in the electronic music calendar worldwide – Cocoon in the Park.
Held in the grounds of a Tudor-Jacobean house on the outskirts of Leeds, the festival invites some of the finest talent in the house and techno circuit for the outstanding all dayer, year after year. Now on its ninth edition, Cocoon in the Park is bringing a forceful line-up as per usual.
As expected, Cocoon head honcho, Sven Vath will top the bill. With Drumcode boss Adam Beyer bringing the heavy beats. Beyer has simply rocked Cocoon Ibiza, with the origanizers describing him as ‘an irresistible force’. Now he’s lined up to stir things up at Cocoon in the Park, backed up by man of the moment Joseph Capriati. A key fixture at Timewarp and at Amnesia’s main room, Capriati first went back to back with Beyer in 2014 in his hometown of Naples. Expect fireworks as the Italian’s groove pairs the Swede’s driving force.
After yet another year of successful touring, Hot Creations pick, Richy Ahmed will be bringing the party vibes to Leeds. His label and party brand FourThirty Two has gone from strength to strength in recent months, with a showcase scheduled at Fabric on March 17. He’s no stranger to a Leeds crowd and no doubt they will be welcoming him with open arms.
If you haven’t heard of Alex & Digby, you will do soon, as the Yorkshiremen warm up proceedings with their warm blend of deep and minimal grooves. Similarly Leeds favourite and Cocoon in the Park residents Annie Errez and Bobby O’Donnell will also be making an appearance, completing the bill.
