Veteran superproducer MK fronting his own Area 10 party at London’s O2 Academy on New Year’s Eve was already destined to kick-start the new decade in the right fashion. Now he has revealed his sensational support cast, we can begin to look forward to 2020 with real excitement.
Two of the standout stars from the increasingly-essential Toolroom roster are MK’s first invitees. Both Weiss and Leftwing:Kody have had their biggest years to date. Each act has been responsible for releasing a track that has vied for the title of summer anthem. Together, they have helped define the sound of house music in 2019.
Many didn’t expect Weiss to eclipse his 2018 smash hit Feel My Needs, and yet he did exactly that with Let Me Love You. In a similar respect, Leftwing:Kody has dominated the airwaves with I Feel It. Talk about a pair of sing-a-long vocal heaters.
Complementing them is two-piece PAX, who count Solardo amongst their most vocal supporters. They produce music fit for both radio and dancefloors, thus making them ideal fit for NYE. Oh, and they were the guys behind that MGMT sample!
Also on the bill are a pair of rising talents who MK has consistently championed in recent years. Boasting a degree in music, releases on Spinnin’ and Nothing Else Matters, as well as collaborations with Becky Hill and Mike Mago, KC Lights is more than qualified for the big occasion. Following the footsteps of another Scottish production wizard, Glaswegian KC is a regular fixture at Area 10 parties for good reason.
Nocturnal duo Nightlapse are another act familiar with the party’s crowd. Appearances at Tobacco Dock, Digital, Mayfield Depot and SWG3 have seen their profile rise, whilst they’ve also remixed MK’s Pleasure State co-star Anabel England
The other three dancefloors sees industry friends invited to share the festivities. Former Clapham sanctuary Gigalum have a reunion in the Foyer, headed by former resident Hilton Caswell who is joined by Made By Pete amongst others. Suave Essex-based Too Damn Glam and host Diason Paye bring their discerning take on house music to the VIP with help from Kruel Intentions and more.
Finally, Grahame Farmer of Data Transmission brings a pack of unknown and untested DJs from his BOOST academy programme to upstairs Circle Bar. The main behind the careers’ of Wax Worx and Ben Sterling has a good track record for developing talent, tomorrow’s next big thing could be taking his or her first big step here.
Overall, the line-up represents the perfect balance of house masters, current stars and future icons with more names still likely to be added. MK Presents Area 10 NYE at O2 Academy Brixton the only place to be on Thursday 31st December.
