Educating. Inspiring. Connecting. Those are the goals set out by Take Note Academy. Not only a seminar, panel and workshop conference, but also a networking event, large-scale party and festival promoters LWE have partnered with founder Bianca Mayhew for the fourth annual edition. While Take Note has been operating since 2015, this year’s installment will be the biggest and most high-profile yet thanks to the link up. Bianca says of this year’s event: “we aim to open doors and inspire young people to come together, collaborate and work towards a healthy future for electronic music.”
The project promises to be a gateway for aspiring professionals working within the music industry. Offering invaluable face-to-face mentorship and advice from established figures from within the scene, a series of talks and master-classes will guide the next generation of industry innovators.
2019’s academy takes place on Saturday 16th November at Spitalfield’s Second Home. The eleven hour conference will feature guest slots from artists, including Cassy, Matador and Thomas Ragsfield, who’ll show budding DJs and producers their techniques. Meanwhile, Heidi and Carly Wilford are amongst the expert talkers.
Subjects tackled across the panels will be How Do I Fit In? and How To Stay Sane In the Game - which will focus around mental health and include contributions from the likes of Ben Pearce, B.Traits and HAAi. Personalities from LWE’s own ranks are also given the limelight to spread their wisdom. Founder Alice Favre will discuss the operation behind Junction 2 festival with Resident Advisor, while Jack Kane will share his knowledge on marketing. In addition, there will also be representatives from Mixmag, Drumcode, Ninja Tunes, Sister Collective, The Weird & The Wonderful, Columbo Group and The Cause.
In short, there’s a giant presence from scene-leaders, making this the most essential electronic music conference London has to offer. Curious or eager to progress in the rich field of electronic music, come and have a nosey and get involved. Who knows, this could open up a world of opportunity for you.
