You loved Robyn and idolised Lykki Li; Royksopp, The Knife and Little Dragon have been on rotation until you can’t listen any more, Polica still light up your world and you NEVER entertained Swedish House Mafia. Yes, you are a true Scandi music lover, and chances are you need some new jams. Here are our current favourite acts from Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark. Enjoy!

Karen Marie Ørsted aka MØ sounds like Lana Del Rey if she actually hip and made electronic music. You’ll know her from the massive Major Lazer and DJ Snake hit Lean On – we were addicted from that moment on. This summer’s Final Song is just as beguiling.

Dagny hails from Norway and made folk music until she was corrupted by a move to London a couple of years ago. Her hit ‘Backbeat’ displays her indie leanings with an electronic lilt. Her latest LP ‘Ultraviolet’ just came out – if you like fast paced, ballsy rock-pop, this is for you.

Aarhus’s Central is an underground favourite in the making. We saw him this summer at Dekmantel festival where his Boiler Room session was undoubtedly amongst the best sets of the weekend. Equally, his Political Dance EP is one of our favourite releases of the year. Keep an eye on this one. For lovers of deep, smooth house music.

Helsinki’s Biniyam has German and Ethiopian roots – his alternative hip-hop is anything coming out of the US right now. His last EP The Abyssinian is a bass heavy ‘statement’ release, running through themes ranging from heritage to history, race to relationships and more.

Kornel Kovacs

A third of the Swedish Studio Barnhus powerhouse alongside Axel Boman and Petter Nordkvist, whose label has been responsible for SO MANY killer cuts (go look them up); as a solo operator he’s also released on Smalville and Numbers. He recently releases his debut album ‘The Bells’ – we like it a lot. File under ‘deep emotional electronic music’.
