Hamburg’s own Helena Hauff is bringing her critically acclaimed 2015 compilation ‘A Tape’ to double vinyl via the Dark Entries imprint.
Originally released on limited cassette by Handmade Birds, the 2xLP spans Hauff’s musical universe, from trippy acid techno to static ambient cuts. An authentic feeling surrounds the release, with a range of analogue synths and drum machines, including the TB-303 and the TR-808 used throughout each track, including the first single from the original release ‘c45p’.
A Tape is described in the press release as “forgotten sketches left on the cutting room floor.”
The double record comes with a custom made jacket designed by Eloise Leigh as well as a double-sided postcard with notes, completing a very special release.
Intense, electrified and futuristic with strong traces of underlying emotionalism and experimentalism, Hauffs sound is diverse yet recognisable, which has been displayed ever since her debut EP on Werkdiscs in 2013. The producer and DJ has since dropped records for Lux_Rec and Bunker sublabel and Panzerkreuz and put out two collaborative EPs for PAN, which we’re produced and released under the name Black Sites.
Helena Hauff will be performing at Croatia’s Dimension festival, which takes place between 30 th August and 3 rd September. The line up also see’s Grace Jones, Moderaat, Yussef Kamaal, Jeff Mills, Theo Parrish, Floating Points, Nina Kraviz, Daphni, Joy Orbison, Levon Vincent and many more perform inside the 2000 year old Fort Punta Christo.
