The Kool Kids Klub was founded in 2007 with a love for underground electronic music. Their parties often take place at Talk Nightclub in Southend On Sea and have seen the likes of B.Traits, MJ Cole, Oneman, Blawan and Annie Mac pass through it’s doors over the years. We caught up with the team to find out what they’re all about ahead of their forthcoming show with Jackmaster and O’Flynn on Saturday 26th March.

So guys, tell us a little bit about The Kool Kids Klub - where the name came from and how the concept came together…

The name and concept came together through lack of clubbing activity in our home town of Southend on sea. There was one good indie club that slowly fizzled out and left us with nothing good. The name came about through the inspiration of NYC based irak crew they had a t-shirt out at the time called the kool guy club. We basically pinched it then tweaked it.

Tell us about some of your guest DJs, past and future… any particularly memorable sets?

There's been hundreds of artists that have graced our DJ booth, a memory that sticks out the most was when Annie Mac came to play our then home and now infamous ‘the sunrooms’. The club was only around 300 capacity. As you can imagine the club was rammed. The club was so sweaty it started to form it's own climate and started to rain sweat….Nice!

If you were to summarise The Kool Kids Klub in 5 tracks, what would they be?

In no order, but have all meant something to us and our team over the past 8 years! The list is endless!

What would your dream line up be, dead or alive?

This is a tricky on, but it would have to include Prince for sure, and David Bowie! Then once they were both done we’d get our next guest Jackmaster on!

What is your favourite club in the whole world and why?

Our favourite club in the world has got to be space Ibiza, it holds so many fun memories for us there growing up. It was always about we love Sunday's for us as the line ups were always so varied. It never seemed to disappoint and always used to smash it. I guess that was always our idol night that we aspired to be like in a way.

What else do you have planned for the rest of 2016?

We are flying out to play Annie Macs Lost & Found festival in Matla at the end of March which which we’re massively looking forward too, last year was a lot of fun! And we have some amazing line ups in the works for our parties in Southend, but we can’t tell you about those just yet.
