Since 1991, Axis Records has been an outlier for Jeff Mills to release his timeless, impeccable music. Almost thirty years later, the Chicago-based label continues to operate under the same ethos. The latest release scheduled from Mills forms the first edition in a new retrospective series. Titled Director’s Cut Chapter 1, the 4-tracker landed in record stores on 14th February - a gift to techno lovers the world over.
Amongst the package, fans can discover a previously unreleased version of 2005’s Suspense, plus a selection of tracks formerly released as part of notable Mills’ albums from 1995-2015. These include Gamma Player, Transformation B (Rottwang’s Revenge) and Hydra and Synergy - which nods to two past Mills’ tracks in Hydra and Synergy, both taken from The Exhibitionist 2.
Mills offered the following statement regarding the package:
"Looking back in hindsight to the activity and accomplishments of Axis is with much pride—to witness the relationship between the music and listener evolving to this point. The Director's Cut reissue project is about manicuring detail. It's about a rare opportunity to enhance what we've done so that the relationship strengthens for the long term."
Jeff Mills is one of the headliners for Dimension’s festival giant last year at Fort Punta Christo this 28th August - 3rd September. At the Opening Concert, he lines-up alongside Objekt (live) and Hunee to play a special live performance with legendary drummer Tony Allen inside the amphitheatre. Attendees can also catch a traditional DJ set from the Detroit legend later in the programming. Twice the Mills dosage for your money - bargain! Other acts confirmed to be appearing include dBridge, Eris Drew, DMX Krew, Larry Heard and many more.
Director’s Cut Chapter 1 is out now on Axis Records.
Opening Concert, Festival, combo and camping packages for Dimensions are all on sale now.
