Everybody’s favourite Dutchman, Joris Voorn, has announced the release date of his new album. “Four” (stylised as ////) is due to land on Friday 15th November. The long-awaited follow-up to 2014’s Nobody Knows is set to be a completely different beast in terms of style to that largely melodic and classical composition. Unlike that offering which was released on Voorn’s long-running Green imprint, the latest material comes via his relatively new Spectrum Music label. As such, you can expect the LP to cover the broad scope of electronic music - and all of the styles that Joris loves - much like its namesake event series. The lead single from //// is already out - watch the video to Messiah, a collaboration with Brit trip-hop group HÆLOS, below.
Excitingly, //// is set to feature more guest artists from diverse backgrounds. Lyrical poet Lazausman and rave icons Underworld are two of the more prominent cameos, amid several others. The producer took to his social media channels to express how the album came together:
“The music on this album is close to my heart and reflects a musical journey I have taken over the last few years, exploring my musical roots and breaking new ground. In the studio and while travelling, I make music with many shapes and sounds, energy and emotions. They are all here. I hope you enjoy this trip.”
Of course, we cannot discount the timing of the release. //// lands the day immediately before Joris Voorn’s return to E1 London. Almost a year to the day when he debuted at the venue with his Spectrum showcase, Joris is back using the East London venue as the start of the album tour. While Voorn plays from open to close in the warehouse on the self-styled Wall Of Sound, next door he is supported by Jonas Rathsman, Woo York (live) and Janina in the black studio.
//// is released on Spectrum Music on Friday 15th November. Joris Voorn Presents is at E1 on Saturday 16th November. Third release, pre-midnight entry and group tickets are all on sale now.
