More than twenty years ago, Drum & Bass was an underground world of illegal warehouse raves, pirate radio stations and cassette pack mix tapes. Now, thanks to household names like Chase & Status, DJ Fresh and Sub Focus, it's topping the charts and selling out shows worldwide… and where did these guys all start out? On Ram Records, the label originally run by the multiple award winning and globally recognised king of Drum & Bass, Andy C.
The label and business today is run by Andy C and business partner Scott Bourne (Red One). Ram Records is a multi award winning organisation for its label activities, the music it releases, and the artists it has signed over the years, such as Calyx & Teebee, Noisia, Sub Focus, DC Breaks and Loadstar to name a few.
As well as Ram's musical output, the label is also very well known for its club nights, the most fa-mous of which started at the London nightclub 'The End' and lasted eleven years till the club's clo-sure in December 2008. Moving on from The End to super-club Matter in February 2009, Ram's at-tendees tripled from 1000 to over 3000 people within two months and lasted till Matter's closure in June 2010. RAM Records events are running stronger than ever to this day keeping their crowd of dedicated ravers happy with heavyweight lineups across some of the UK’s biggest and baddest venues, festivals and party spaces.
This coming weekend is a busy one for the RAM Records team, with two birthday events spreading across The Steelyard, Hackney and The Oval Space, Bethnal Green - as well as a very special 45 minute talk from Andy C, Scott Bourne, Dean Marsh and Andy Singh as part of LEAF’s Friday con-versations.
