On 1st January 2018, LWE marks the fifth New Year’s Day event at Tobacco Dock with a truly special lineup. Over the past four years LWE have brought a broad spectrum of house & techno’s best to Tobacco Dock, and the first day of 2018 will be no different. Tickets are available on general sale from tomorrow.
For the very first time, LWE hosts the much-anticipated return of Maetrik Live. Maetrik is the darker, techno-focused moniker of Maceo Plex aka Eric Estornel. His productions and performances are second to none, and have dominated the dance music scene since the mid-1990s.
Also confirmed is Bulgarian producer KiNK, whose debut album in 2014 - Under Destruction - received critical acclaim across the board and cemented his position as a true hardware and live performance maestro. KiNK's set to release his second album Playground, for Gerd Janson’s label Running Back on November 3rd 2017, and as anyone who has seen his high-octane shows can confirm, his performances are a middle finger to live dance music's naysayers everywhere.
The second live act on the bill, Agents of Time, are characterised by the use of analog instruments, making each stage show unpredictable and unique in its kind. Their common desire is to brave limits and share with others the pulse of enjoyable freedom which led them to perform at internationally recognised festivals such as DGTL, ADE, and Barcelona’s Off Sonar, to name a few.
British born producer Alan Fitzpatrick is a techno DJ without equal. His most recent EP, Brian's Proper Dun One, on Adam Beyer’s pioneering label Drumcode, was released earlier this year, and is a reminder that since the beginning of his near-decade long career, he remains one of the true techno masters in the game. His seminal classics “Skeksis”and “For an Endless night”demonstrate that he’s a man for the future as well as past. Alan has proven through consistency and continuity that he deserves every bit of the recognition he receives worldwide. When behind the decks his performances are fuelled with intoxicating energy and an intrinsic knowledge of music. Anyone who has caught one of his sets at Awakenings will know how legendary a performer he is.
Studio Barnhaus are a label that are hard to pigeonhole, one whom constantly move in different musical directions. LWE are pleased to welcome Swedish co-founder Axel Boman, who will take you on an eclectic musical trip. Boman will showcase his raw soulful style in the surroundings of the Great Gallery.
Support for Tobacco Docks’NYD showcase comes from Liverpool’s own Lauren Lo Sung, a music lover and consummate record digger since the age of 11. Nowadays she specialises in a groovy house driven sound, and a track selection that’s famous for showing off underground music in all styles, rhythms and textures.
Following on from a sell-out show at Fabric earlier in July, Ukrainian girl Nastia joins the NYD bill, bringing her minimal and dub techno stylings to London for the first time since July. Nastia has become something of a sensation over the last few years, particularly since releasing her latest mix series compilation with Einzelkind for Cocoon recordings in August.
