Mancunian DJ and producer Lee Spence aka Pirate Copy has spent the past 15 years dedicating himself to house music, winning over industry heads across the globe with his melodic tech house rhythms. His success is demonstrated by charted tracks from the likes of Hot Since 82, Anja Schneider, and Pete Tong, along with his manic tour schedule at festivals and events such as BPM festival, Hi Ibiza, fabric, Parklife, Elrow OFF week, Manchester’s Albert Hall and Ibiza Rocks Hotel to name a few. More recently, Lee’s released on labels such as Elrow, with his Flaky EP, Relief Records with Irish Stan EP, and Mathias Tanzmann’s Moon Harbour Recordings with Tribal On The Terrace earlier in July.

Ahead of Lee’s set at Forbidden Forest festival in September, we asked him to pick out his favourite festival tracks...

Pirate Copy – Piano Track

My recent track on Solá – it’s been smashing the Beatport charts since release and everyone from Solardo to Patrick Topping and Richy Ahmed have been playing it out. Definitely one of my strongest records to date.

Vibe Killers – Bacardi

Vibe Killers is another name from the Manchester area and he’s been smashing it recently. Bacardi dropped on my own label, Kaluki, and has been doing the business for the last few months in all my sets.

Calvin Clarke – Booty Go

Calvin is another name from the Kaluki family who is going big places this year – make sure you keep an eye on him!

Pirupa – Wanaka

You’ll have definitely heard this one from Pirupa – a Beatport Top 30 release and a big hitter for loads of DJs this summer.

PAWSA – Be Here Now

Love this one from the Solid Grooves co-founder – can’t beat a cheeky Cypress Hill sample!

DEL-30 – You Won’t Regret

Another up-and-comer to keep an eye on, DEL-30 have recently signed to our new management company and there’s some huge releases on the horizon for them. You Won’t Regret is a great example of what they can do in the studio – turn it up 😉

Pete Zorba – Climbing Walls (Darius Syrossian Remix)

Pete has been a close friend and Kaluki resident for a long time now, Climbing Walls was a big track but Darius’ remix gave it that extra twist which does the job every time.

Dennis Cruz – Freaks

Dennis has been at the top of his game for as long as I can remember – Freaks is a serious dancefloor weapon!

Claude Vonstroke – Who’s Afraid of Detroit (Wyatt Marshall Remix)

An all-time classic from Vonstroke which has been given a refresh from Wyatt Marshall – everyone recognises this one and it goes off every time.

Pirate Copy Feat. Rion S – Irish Stan

This was from my last EP on Relief, a darker cut than Piano Track but still one of my favourites.
