We all know him as the don behind ‘You Don’t Even Know Me’, ‘The Funk Phenomena’ or as one half of Duck Sauce – but there’s so much more to Arman Van Helden than that.

His discography is vast – as well as the obvious hits, he’s also appeared in Dizzee Rascal’s Bonkers, collaborated with DJ Sneak and worked under a ton of aliases for Strictly Rhythm. In the 90’s, Armand seemed to remix every huge dance track going, from Urban Cookie Collective ‘The Key, The Secret’ to Shabba Ranks ‘Mr Loverman’ to Faithless ‘Insomnia’ to Sash ‘Stay’ to the Rolling Stones (yes, really).

His reworks of three songs in particular – Tori Amos ‘Professional Widow’, Sneaker Pimps ‘Spin Spin Sugar’ and CJ Bolland ‘Sugar is Sweeter’, all landing in 1996 and seriously altered the landscape of overground UK dance music, bringing heavy bass lines to house tracks and crowning him dance music’s ‘bass king’. Following through the millennium, he remixed big guns like Britney Spears, Wu Tang Clan, Gwen Stefani and um, The Sugababes.

But which ones are the biggest party starters? Here’s a playlist of our favourite Armand remixes from ’91 to present day. Play loud and be warned, it’s large.
