Re-Textured’s ambitious second edition is right around the corner. The indoor festival is now less than 2 months away, taking over Tobacco Dock on Saturday 4th April. We were already chomping at the bit, thanks to the leading names and the promise of live performances and art installations. However, now the room splits have been revealed, excitement levels have reached tipping point. Let’s breakdown each room and see what you can expect from three varied experiences.
Re-Think - The Great Gallery
The Great Gallery - sometimes referred to as Tobacco Dock’s main room - has been reimaged as Re-Think for Re-Textured festival. Casting aside all predispositions about what the art of DJing entails, the festival’s diligently crafted line-up features some of the very best selectors and technicians in the business, sure to provide a masterclass in the skill. J2 weekend resident Avalon Emerson, Hessle Audio crate-digger Ben UFO and Hamburg’s favourite daughter Helena Hauff are DJs at the very top of their game. Although lesser known quantities, Bambounou, Sybil and Kiara Scuro will provide further evidence for krankbrother’s eye for talent and programming line-ups. In total, there are six beefy DJ sets to get your teeth stuck into. The one anomaly is Warp records enigma Clark, who will play live.
Re-See - The Little Gallery
Across the way, the Little Gallery encourage you to go with an open mind, where sight is elevated to the same importance as sound. Re-See is the room being utilised to house the A/V live sets. Emptyset, Actress and Afrodeutsche will all comprise visual features into their performances, with the latter debuting her brand new Amt Der Seele project. Two straight-up live sets are also scheduled for Atari Teenage Riot and acid lover Donato Dozzy, who plays live in the UK for the first time. Silvia Kastel is the final act, playing a traditional DJ set.
Re-Connect - The Car Park
As has so often been the case down the years, the Car Park is again reserved as a techno dungeon. Re-Connect will host the hardest and fastest sounds of the one-dayer. Regis and Surgeon will combine to form their brutal double-act British Murder Boys for a special live show. Another duo, Blawan and Pariah, will be performing as Karenn. Sith lord SNTS will surely feel right at home in the depths of the venue, as he plays alongside the ever-innovative Paula Temple. Berlin regular Rebekah has countless experience playing environments such as this. The Birmingham DJ will be playing a hybrid set that mixes DJing and live elements. Incredibly, there’s still room for one more live act - and it’s a biggie. Rødhåd debuts his new live show - a world exclusive, no less. Exploring a different side to her musical persona, B.Traits will play one of a couple of DJs sets as Baby T - a project which fuses her love of techno and jungle. Festival curators krankbrother play the other DJ and complete the line-up.
Third release general, Early Entry and Black Pass tickets are on sale now.
