Ricardo Villalobos features in a new documentary, it has been revealed.

‘If I Think of Germany at Night’ also stars Sonja Moonear, Ata, Roman Fluegel and Move D, focussing in-depth on the role music plays in their lives at home and on the road through a series of interviews and observations, painting a slow and pensive picture of a music scene in transition.

Berlin-based filmmaker Romuald Karmakar directed the film, having previously made 2009’s Villalobos documentary. In this new work, Karmakar does not attempt to present a timeline or history of electronic music, rather he allows the artists to speak for themselves. Each artist was chosen based on a deeply rooted dedication to their craft – Karmakar explains that music is their ‘raison d’etre’ (reason to live).

The documentary premiered as part of the Berlin International Film Festival on Sunday 12th February. Showings of the film are scheduled for Friday 17th February and Saturday 18th February CineStar on Potsdamer Platz.
