It’s been a long time coming, but electronic music enigma Ricardo Villalobos is readying his first release of 2018. The Chilean oddball has long since adhered to a mantra of quality-over-quantity, so we’re certain this will be worth the wait. The 2-track EP called Silent will land on Einzelkind’s Pressure Traxx in November.

Wispa and 909 Track are the names of both cuts.

Perhaps it has endeared the legend, that you can never be quite certain which Villalobos will turn up on any given day. As the old adage goes, there is a thin line between genius and insanity. That said, we can say hand on heart that Ricky V is enjoying his most consistent year to date. Whilst it might be premature to state he has left his wild antics in the past, 2018 has definitely presented us with a more conservative version of his former self.

No doubt organisers and fans alike will hope he puts in a repeat performance when he returns to Epizode at the turn of the year. Even if you weren’t there yourself, no doubt you’ve seen the clips from last year’s appearance, where several Villalobos-worshipping attendees donning oversized masks of their hero’s face as he looks on in amusement.

The burgeoning twelve-day festival off the coast of southern Vietnam has really put South East Asia’s growing scene on the map. As we approach the third edition, it’s hard not to be impressed with how far Epizode has come in such a short space of time. In previous years we have seen the likes of European party-throwers Hyte, North American live sensation Mathew Jonson and scene giant Carl Cox grace Phú Quoc, alongside regional talents such as Nakadia, Fumiya Tanaka and Peggy Gou - making this a true international affair. As well as returning faces, the forthcoming installment will feature big hitters including Seth Troxler, Praslesh and Ferry Corsten alongside Ricardo Villalobos.

Silent is scheduled for release on 12-inch on Monday 19th November.

5th release multi-pass tickets for Epizode are on sale now.
