Secret Solstice have returned with their second artist announcement. Taking place between Friday 21st and Sunday 23rd June 2019 on the outskirts of Icelandic capital Reykjavik, the event falls of the dates where the sun never sets - meaning daylight around the clock. As if this curious natural phenomena isn’t worthy of checking-out alone, the festival has added more star names to the billing.
Previously, they had already announced headliners Martin Garrix, Rita Ora, Pussy Riot and Morcheeba. Now we can reveal they are joined by former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant and US house hero MK - two musical icons, generations apart.
However, as usual it’s the underground acts that have our interest piqued the most. How about the original master of deep house and certified legend, Kerri Chandler bringing the soulful 4/4. In a career spanning three decades, Kerri has seen hype DJs come into and fall out of fashion, whilst he remains ahead of the curve. From the UK, Mr. G AKA Colin McBean will be bringing his self-styled tech-funk analogue sound and bags of energy. Let’s face it, with 24 hours of sunlight and three days of partying as well as satellite events, you’ll need all the energy you can borrow! Adding a touch of decorum to proceedings, French disco connoisseur Jeremy Underground and his magnificent trove of records will be making the flight north. With his affinity for Scandinavian relaxation methods well documented, we can imagine Jeremy will be preparing for this one by enjoying one of the region’s geothermal spas!
Finally, for those of you who prefer things a little more rugged, pan-genre rap outfit Foreign Beggars will be on hand to provide a grimey flow to electronic beats. The four-piece anarchists will be performing a medley of their hits, including Badman Riddim, Apex and Contact.
General admission 1st release, VIP tickets and youth passes are available now.
