The second edition of Sidexside arrives at Tobacco Dock on April 16 – promoters LWE have announced the hosts for each room, and the selection does not disappoint: Jamie Jones is running the show in the Great Gallery, Guy Gerber is taking the Car Park as his domain for the day and Leon Vynehall is setting up shop in the Little Gallery.
SIDEXSIDE gives the DJs a platform to push boundaries and dig deeper into their record collections alongside some of their favourite acts, playing back to back all day long. Expect forgotten classics, hidden treasures and guilty pleasures.
Last year’s guests included Loco Doce, Craig Richards, Koelsch and Steve Rachmad… Whilst we wait in anticipation of this year’s guests yet to be announced, we thought we’d share our top picks from the discographies of Jamie, Guy and Leon.
Jamie Jones – Amazon
Back in 2006, before his days as Hot Creations head man, Jamie made minimal bombs like this one, on Dan Ghenacia’s Freak n’ Chic label. If you don’t already know… get to know.
Guy Gerber – Belly Dancing
Out on Guy’s album on Cocoon in 2009, Belly Dancing is a long upbuilding tech house track with a proggy, Eastern flavor, which might sound wack, but wait until you hear it.
Leon Vynehall – Step or Stone (Breath or Bone)
His last album, Rojus, was a house lover’s dream – however this track is a techno menace with a ferocious organ line – pure dance floor fodder.
