Just four days away, Take Note Academy London has revealed the final names of experts joining them at Second Home, Spitalfields on Saturday 16th November. In addition, the full schedule is now in the public domain, so you can start planning which seminars and panels you hit on the day. To make planning slightly less of a headache, the programme has been split into two: room one on the ground floor and room two on the second floor, with an hour run time designated for each topic.
Take Note has gone big with their final few speakers, snaring Jamal Edwards MBE. The young entrepreneur, self help guru and philanthropist shot to stardom as the brains behind SBTV. The online video platform defined a generation of inner-city music fans and helped launch the career of Krept & Konan, Stormzy and Ed Sheeran. As the driving creating force behind the scenes as well as an engaging personality in front of camera, Jamal’s work ethic and DIY approach not only entertained, but inspired the one million plus subscribers to his channel.
Jamal will be discussing his life’s work and giving insight into the inner workings of SBTV and his mindset in the panel Making the Video with SBTV which runs from 17:00 to 18:00. There, he will be joined by another new addition to the line-up, in maverick grime star Capo Lee.
The third and final new name confirmed is London-based Our Circula Sound techno producer, Sigha. Best known for his output on Hotflush Recordings and his experimental, instrumental LPs, Sigha has courted controversy in the past with explicit artwork and responding to what he perceived as negative commentary on his work. Sigha will close the day’s proceedings with an interview and then a live modular performance, which promises to touch on techno, ambient and abstract sounds.
Other highlights throughout the schedule include a production masterclass from Benjamin Damage, an interview with DJ/broadcaster/record shop owner Heidi and how to beat social media’s algorithm. Plus, you can get involved with more of the day’s activities such as Kobalt Music’s mentorship programme. We also hear from audiophile Rog Mogale, Void’s Creative Director - about the theory behind listeners sonic experience on the dancefloor. Networking opportunities will be available between 18:00 - 19:00.
