Where has the year gone? It’s hard to believe we’re over halfway through November and 2018 is well within sight. We don’t want to panic you, but there’s only four Monday’s left until Xmas! Eeek! So naturally we expect that plans for NYE/NYD are well under way. And if they aren’t, then what are you waiting for? You’d better stop what you’re doing and start planning! But fear not, we have compiled a list of the parties we expect to be most poppin’ over the new year run-in for the indecisive amongst you.
New Year’s Eve
Printworks NYE – Printworks, Surrey Quays, Canada Water, London
Kickin’ things off, we start at Printworks. It’s been a year of events at London’s newest venue, but this will be the first time that they go through the night. Such an occasion calls for the big guns, and Printworks has delivered: MK, Lee Foss and Route 94 look after the cavernous Print Halls, while Secondcity is the special guest in Room 2. Now that’s big!
Defected In the House @ Ministry of Sound, 103 Gaunt St., Elephant & Castle, London
If pure unadulterated house is your thing, then look no further than Defected at Ministry of Sound. Simon Dunmore & Co. have been incumbents at MOS’s NYE slot for as long as we care to remember – and for good reason. They have a reputation for inviting the very best in house royalty. This year is no different, they’ve drafted-in a stellar all-star cast to wave goodbye to 2017 and say hello to 2018 with: Roger Sanchez, Sonny Fodera, Amine Edge & Dance, Josh Butler, Dario D’Attis, Jess Bays & Andy Daniell. Say no more!
Egg LDN NYE: Pan-Pot, Dense & Pika, Tobi Neumann - 200 York Way, King’s Cross, London
For those looking for something a lil’ tougher, Egg London might be more up your street. They’ve called in a selection of techno heavyweights to welcome in the new year. Those of you familiar with Egg will know that this party is just gonna go on and on and on! So get a good night’s sleep the night before, a hearty meal and maybe even squeeze in a cheeky disco nap if you plan on seeing this one through to the end! Only true warriors will be left standing come lights-up.
ElectronicSessions NYE Boat Party, Golden Flame, Temple Pier, Embankment, London
For something a little different, how about a party boat on the Thames with unrivalled views of the fireworks and soundtracked by ES’s experienced in-house DJs? This will be their fifth year of throwing a party on the river, so they come with plenty of experience. Fully-heated with two floors of music, this is London’s premier boat party.
Pop On Over: It’s New Year’s Eve! – The Magic Roundabout, Old Street, London
Perhaps you prefer things a little lower-key, yet still with guaranteed great music and an up-for-it crowd. Party-starters Pop On Over are over at Old Street Roundabout, promising a blend of feel-good disco, house and party classics from their experienced spinners. Smiles, hugs and heart-shapes aplenty!
NYE in the Hothouse – Patterns, 10 Marine Parade, Brighton
On the south coast, Patterns are throwing the pick of parties in B-Town with a headline DJ set from the legendary Romare. There will also be an appearance from Mr. Bongo, while the upstairs bar has been transformed into a winter garden complete with frozen cocktails!
NYE at WHP – Store Street, Manchester
At the other end of the M1 Warehouse Project have things locked-down yet again. They’ve called-in the best of bass driven sounds from across the UK, and the line-up is water-tight! Hannah Wants, Disciples, Low Steppa, Friend Within, Mak & Pasteman, GotSome and more. There’s a reason that WHP have things locked-down in Manchester – and it’s their unrivalled, festival-sized line-ups.
New Year’s Day
The Closing Party, Warehouse Project, Store Street, Manchester
The following day – and there’s no rest for the wicked! WHP close-out their 2017/18 programme with a twelve-hour party featuring a who’s who of talent from the sphere of house & techno. Bicep, The Black Madonna, MCDE, Midland, George FitzGerald, Daniel Avery, Denis Sulta, Peggy Gou, Shanti Celeste, DJ Seinfeld… we could go on, but you get the picture! Make the most of this, as we won’t be back at Store Street again until after the summer.
HospitalityDnb, The Blast & Metropolis present: The Undivide – Printworks, Surrey Quays, London
Back down south, and if D&B is your bag then look no further than Printworks. Dutch trio Noisia are the star attraction, but there’s plenty more going-on here to grab your attention. How about Special Request vs DJ Zinc? Dubstep/grime pioneer Caspa heading up Room 2? Or Nicky Blackmarket playing a BM records set?
LWE NYD 2018 – Tobacco Dock, 50 Porter’s Walk, Wapping, London
Our personal highlight – and for good reason! It’s hard to believe that this event marks 5 Years of parties at Tobacco Dock. And what a 5-years they’ve been! During that time we’ve seen the best electronic music acts pass through and play. From Adam Beyer to Annie Mac, Andy C to Richie Hawtin. And the list keeps growing! Keeping with the theme, this year’s line-up is no less revered: KiNK Live, Floorplan, Roman Flügel, Alan Fitzpatrick, Nastia plus a very special Maetrik Live by Maceo Plex. This event always sells-out weeks in advance, so don’t be that person who misses out!
