TOP 5: PRASLEA

As festival season approaches, one of Romania’s most intriguing and groundbreaking DJs, Praslea, prepares to headline the Into The Woods stage at Junction 2 Festival alongside Jane Fitz, Janeret and of course as Into The Woods residents.

Label owner, producer and DJ, Praslea has made a name for himself via his incredible record selection, blending old school, vinyl-only house cuts with new school, dubby minimal. Alongside El Cezere and Kozo, Praslea runs the label Understand, which has seen releases from the likes of Amorf, Cezar, Dubtil, Rhadoo & Raresh. Praslea is also one half of the project Praslesh, alongside long time friend and mentor Raresh. Together they have toured the world, complimenting each other’s sound, performing memorable back-to- back sets.

We take a look at some of the finest releases from the [ar:pia:ar] favourite.

Praslea – Jurnal de bord

Among Praslea’s releases, Jurnal de bord stands out as the most notable. A collaboration featuring friends Raresh, Kozo and Cristi Cons, released via [ar:pia:ar].

Praslea - Greu La Deal

A dubby, unreleased cut from Praslea which first made an appearance through Ricardo Villabos & [ar:pia:ar] sound system sets in 2011.

Praslesh - Ascendents

An intelligently worked jazzy number from Praslea and Raresh. Floating organ samples complimented by a grooving bass. Perfect for the afters.

Praslesh - Bong Au 2

Brand new from Praslesh, Bong Au 2 is a break beat infused cut, featuring a strong sub bass layered with eerie Cor anglais samples, drifting in the background.

Praslesh – Libermol 1

Libermol 1, another solid groove from Praslesh and again unreleased. Awesomely dark with chilling vocals and driving percs, the record can only be found played through the sets of Praslea.
