Last month Jon Hopkins started a riot amongst news-thirsty fans by releasing a 4-minute teaser-trailer. The CGI-short features dazzling star constellations, dancing aurora borealis and was as visual stunning as the music it accompanied. Now Jon has revealed this marks the long-awaited follow-up to his 2013 studio album Immunity. Titled Singularity, the new album will explore Hopkins own experiences with meditation and states of trance. We’re told that the music will range from “rugged techno” to psychedelic ambient, and, we’re assuming, lots of beautiful pianos.
Emerald Rush is the first single taken from the LP. Check-out the video below.
A European tour is in the works for the Fall, but UK fans can quench their thirst by catching Jon at Parklife festival in June. Joining him in Heaton Park will be an eclectic array of artists, including Liam Gallagher, N*E*R*D, Justice & Lorde.
For overseas fans – or the jetsetters amongst you – Jon plays live at Dimensions in Croatia at the end of August. Taking place in the idyllic setting of Fort Punta Cristo, he plays alongside headliners Kraftwerk with DJ sets from Moodymann, Bonobo, Paula Temple and more.
Tickets for both events are on sale now.
Singularity is scheduled for release on Domino on 4th May.
