Ahead of their self-titled debut album dropping on Friday (01/09), Bicep have released the promo vid for the next single Aura. Directed by Matilda Finn – who has previously worked with AlunaGeorge, Little Boots & Danny Brown – the video is a dream-induced, visceral affair. It might be too early to call, but we reckon this could go down as one of the most iconic music videos in the history of electronic music.
The track itself is a punchy, synth-laden club track with some notable prog influences. It guarantees plenty of life-affirming moments on the dancefloor; and perfectly complements the 2 previous singles, Glue and Vale.
Overall the album is an ambitious project that aims to pull-together all the cornerstones of underground club culture: house, techno, electro, Italodisco and breakbeat. These elements fuse together to form a body of work which manages to showcase an impressive variety of influences, yet bears Bicep’s distinctive hallmark throughout.
Having risen to prominence as tastemakers with their online blog, today the Belfast pair are international touring artists in their own right. They just might be the most respected curators in modern day electronic music. And this album is testament to that.
Catch the duo performing their live show at Concorde2, Brighton on Friday 29th September.
Then on Saturday 21st October they’re apart of the massive The Hydra Presents Ninja Tune line-up at Printworks Issue 002, including Modeselektor, Ame, Helena Hauff, Special Request and more.
Tickets for both shows are available now.
Bicep is out on 1st September via all good download stores.
