In case you’ve missed it already, We Are FSTVL have already sent shockwaves through 2018’s festival calendar with their Phase 1 and 2 announcements! Signalling their intent for another year of unrivalled line-ups, they’ve retained a few familiar faces whilst mixing things up with the addition of fresher components. We take a look at our highlights so far!
Epic Sunday Headliner
Last year Eric Prydz was wowing fans with the audio-visual delights of EPIC 5.0 at Victoria Park, whilst We Are FSTVL raged in Upminster a mere 15 miles eastward. It gave festival-goers a real headache. Well, no such headache this time around! The Swedish superstar will grace the Airfield of Dreams for the first time. Is there a more fitting choice to headline the LED-laden Terminal 1 structure? We doubt it. Still producing monster anthems, such as current Pryda release Stay With Me shows.
It’s Time For the Percolator!
With his fluorescent mohawk Green Velvet is about as iconic as they come. The Chicago native just exudes coolness. Your streetcred increases tenfold simply by breathing the same oxygen as him: Fact. His Relief imprint is still churning out bangers 25 years down the line. Even as recently as this year, they’ve showcased releases from Solardo, Detlef & Mason Maynard. A list of impressive collaborators as long as your arm, including Patrick Toping, Riva Starr & Eats Everything. And let’s talk about those hit records: La-La Land, Percolator & Flash – wow!
The same festival that brought People Do Nothing wrecking-crew Kurupt FM to Essex have pulled another genius booking out of the bag in 2018 with Big Shaq! Shaq is the comic-creation of all-round entertainer Michael Dapaah, currently tearing-up airwaves with his infectious tongue-n-cheek grime spoof. MAN’S NOT HOT? No, man’s is! So, so hot. Guaranteed raucous crowd sing-a-longs. What a coup, if a lil’ on the corny side.
Takin’ In To The Streets
If, like us, you missed-out on those golden tickets to The Streets reunion shows next year, FEAR NOT! Because We Are FSTVL have got the next best thing: Mike Skinner performing a DJ set. There’s no disputing the fact that Mike Skinner is a Brit musical icon. The Streets were the soundtrack of a generation. Original Pirate Material, A Grand Don’t Come For Free, The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Livin’ & Everything Is Borrowed – what a back catalogue. Truly anthemic albums! And still producing amazing music with new project The Darker the Shadow, the Brighter the Light. Expect classics galore!
Originally a classical composer, Stephan Bodzin fell into club music almost by chance. But it is here when his unique take on techno has elevated him to godlike status as both a live performer and DJ. He’s even formed a formidable studio partnership with fellow German native Marc Romboy. Full of peaks, troughs, drama and melodies – Bodzin’s sets are the ultimate musical journey. And you only need to look at him getting lost in the music with those facial expressions to know he really feels the music! We expect you’ll be feelin’ the music too! If you need anymore proof, then check-out his forthcoming release on Tale Of Us’ Afterlife label Strand.
There’s still lots more to come, however. Stayed tuned to our social channels this Thursday when Phase Three is set to drop – with We Are FSTVL promising their biggest techno line-up to date! You know it’s gonna be special.
Tickets are already on third release and are on sale now.
